Studies
show that every year, millions of young students develop back problems due to
the vast amount weight of their backpacks. When you take a look in the average
students backpack the majority of this weight is from heavy textbooks and
notebooks. Not only focusing on the weight of the books that the students a
loaded down with every day, but with the amount of paper used to create these
books and notebooks. Millions of trees are cut down just to make workbooks and
textbooks for schools. While students continue to have severe back pains at
early ages, the technology world has developed in exceedingly creating compact,
light, laptops; some weighing as little as two pounds. After this will we
continue to place the strain on the growing backs of students? Or should
schools consider replacing the heavy textbooks and notebooks with lighter
portable laptops?
The
heavy weight of a backpack often causes long-term health issues and back pain
for students. Asides from notebooks and binders, students also have to carry
pencils, pens, and spare paper. And let’s not forget that many students bring
lunch from home. The weight all adds up. The average high school student’s
backpack weights between ten and twenty-five pounds, while the average laptop
weights between three and eight pounds. Having a laptop in your backpack
instead of overweighed textbooks can definitely make a difference.
Switching from textbooks and notebooks to laptops will lessen the loads on our backs and it has many other benefits. The only question left is; can they rise to the occasion? Definitely, if students truly want to replace textbooks and notebooks with laptops, they will have to show responsibility to earn them.

I totally agree with you, textbooks are way to heavy and tend to give back pains. Your speech was very persuading and well put together, it had ethos and pathos which really made your speech standout. I do believe that we should use computer than textbook cause its more updated and useful.
